Oddly enough, the three members remaining at the end of the film were the first to die off stage. Unlike the American remake most of the titular characters do not know each other with the exception of Kambei and Shichiroji. A Bug’s Life, Star Trek: Insurrection, Oceans 11, and a more famous American Western starring Charles Bronson are all films that borrow a common plot device from, FTP, what numerically titled film by Akira Kurosawa.

The Seven Samurai

This film was released in the Czech Republic in 2001, sixty years after its release in the United States. The writing staff of The Simpsons has stated many times that if you took all the scenes in The Simpsons referencing this film you would have the entire film. Such references include Sideshow Bob giving his acceptance speech in front of a large portrait of himself and an episode titled “Rosebud”. FTP, name this venerable American movie starring Orson Welles.

Despite appearing in the film the songs “Semi-Charmed Life” and “Flagpole Sitta” were not included on the soundtrack. The soundtrack did include such songs as “Sway” and “Mutt”. The latter was by a band that appeared in the film during a scene were a main character inadvertently broadcasts a very intimate moment over the internet. During that moment Jim prematurely ejaculates twice, ruining his chances with Nadia and forcing him to take Michelle to the prom. They ultimately hook-up despite Jim’s relation with a namesake baked-good. FTP, name this 1999 teen comedy that shares its name with the most famous single by Don McLean.

Some critics considered it better than the two movies it succeeded though some fans did not enjoy Genndy Tartakovsky’s animation.
